  1. Kentucky is a state in South central USA, 
  2. nickname Bluegrass State. It has an area of 
  3. 104,700sq km (40,414sq miles). Its capital is 
  4. Frankfort. Its towns include Louisville, 
  5. Lexington, Owensboro, and Covington. In 1900, 
  6. Kentucky ranked first among Southern states 
  7. in per-capita income, but wealth was divided 
  8. unevenly, and the Great Depression of the 
  9. 1930s hit hard.
